Northern Ireland’s leading children’s cancer charity, Cancer Fund for Children has received a £5,000 Christmas charity gift from Danske Bank.
The bank made the donation after its employees, customers and members of the public voted for the local charity they wanted to see receive a Christmas gift this year.
Cancer Fund for Children provides practical and emotional support to young people (aged 0-24 years old) diagnosed with cancer and young people who have a parent diagnosed with cancer, and their families.
Kevin Kingston, Chief Executive Officer at Danske Bank UK, said: “As a local bank, it’s really important to us that we support our local community. We’re delighted to be able to make donations to five incredible local charities this Christmas, with the biggest donation going to Cancer Fund for Children.
“As one of our previous charity partners, Cancer Fund for Children remains very close to our hearts. It’s been great to be back at Daisy Lodge; it really is a magical place, especially at this time of year. We hope our Christmas gift can go some way in helping local children and families struggling with the emotional impact of cancer this Christmas.”
Phil Alexander, CEO of Cancer Fund for Children, added: “Cancer Fund for Children is extremely thankful to everyone at Danske Bank for this incredibly generous donation of £5,000 and of course to all of our amazing supporters and members of the public for voting for us this year. This wonderful Christmas gift will ensure we can continue empowering and connecting families throughout the Christmas period and ensuring that no child has to face cancer alone. A massive well done also to all the charities involved.”
Danske Bank also made donations to the runners up in the vote – Marie Curie NI and Dementia NI received £3,000 and £2,000 respectively, while TinyLife and NI Chest Heart and Stroke each received £1,000.
