To set it up

  1. Adding cards to Google Pay takes just a few minutes. Download the app from Google Play or check to see if it’s already installed on your phone. Then, follow the easy instructions.
  2. Click ‘+ Payment method’
  3. Add your credit or debit card by taking a photo or entering your details manually

Google Pay works on Android devices running Android Lollipop 5.0 or above.

To use it

When paying in-store:

  1. Simply wake up your phone. You won't need to unlock it for certain small payments * (under £30). To make purchases of over £30 in store, you will need to unlock your phone.

    *Note: You can only make a limited amount of locked transactions before your phone will ask you to unlock it.

  2. Hold the back of your device near the contactless payment terminal and wait for the blue checkmark.

When paying within apps:

With Google Pay, you can check out in hundreds of apps without having to enter your payment information.

  1. On your Android phone, open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Lock screen & security Secure lock settings Lock automatically.
  3. Choose the amount of time for your screen to automatically lock.
