Action Fraud, the national fraud and cyber crime reporting centre, is warning people of a new scam involving automated calls which tell victims that a fraudster has used their details to sign up for an Amazon Prime subscription.
The fraudsters tells the victim the Amazon Prime subscription was purchased fraudulently and that they need remote access to the victim’s computer in order to fix a security flaw that will prevent it from happening again.
You should NEVER install any software as a result of a cold call. Unsolicited requests for remote access to your computer should always raise a red flag! We and other legitimate banks and organisations will NEVER ask you to download that kind of app to your device, or to log onto your online banking while using it.
If you’ve fallen victim to this scam, please contact us using the number on the back of you Danske Bank card.
Our lines are open: Mon-Fri: 8am to 8pm | Sat: 9am to 4:30pm
Call charges may vary. Please contact your phone company for details. We may record or monitor calls to confirm details of our conversations, for your protection, to train our staff and to maintain the quality of our service.
