Categorising transactions is easy


The handy tool will allow you to self manage your spending. You can:

Re-categorise transactions

If a transaction has been allocated to a predefined category that is not to your choosing, you can change it.


Allocate uncategorised transactions to a category of your choice

If a transaction has not got a predefined category, you can allocate one of your choice from the full list of defined categories.


Split a transaction between different categories

If you have a transaction which can be divided into different categories e.g. food and electrical you can split the transaction and allocate the relevant amounts across different categories.


Categorise multiple transactions (including past and future transactions)

If you choose to categorise/move categories or recategorise a transaction, the spending overview tool will identify all other matching transactions and present you with a list of these transactions. You will have the option to either categorise the individual transaction or categorise all transactions in the list.

You must be registered for and logged in to eBanking using your Access ID to be able to use Danske Mobile Bank and Danske Tablet Bank Apps. Danske Mobile Bank App is only available on Apple iOS devices, Android devices and Windows Phones. Danske Tablet Bank App is available for Apple iOS and Android devices. You will not be able to download the Apps if you are under 13. If you are aged 13 to 18, you will be required by Apple (for the App store), Microsoft (for Windows Store) or Google (for Google Play) to get your parent’s or guardian’s permission to download the App.

How do I get access to spending overview?

Spending Overview is available within eBanking and the Danske Mobile and Tablet Bank apps. You need to register for register for eBanking and log-on using your eBanking log-on details to view Spending Overview in eBanking and in the apps.

What accounts will Spending Overview be available on?

Spending Overview is available on current accounts and credit card accounts to personal customers aged 18 years and over.

For what period of time can I view my Spending Overview?

You can get a Spending Overview for transactions made within the last 13 months.

Can I see my spending and my income?

Yes, both your spending and your income for an account will be categorised and you can choose to switch between spend and income views.

I have a joint account can we both view our own personal spending overview?

Yes, provided that you are both registered for eBanking.

Who can get spending overview?

Spending Overview is available to personal customers aged 18 years and over who hold a current account and/or credit card account with Danske Bank.


Using Spending Overview

What can I do with spending overview?

Spending Overview will categorise most of your transactions automatically presenting a real time view of your spending and income over a 13 month period.

In addition, this handy tool will allow you to view a more detailed overview of your spending and income. You can -

  • Re-categorise transactions – If a transaction has been allocated to a predefined category that is not to your choosing, you can change it.

Can I move a transaction to a different category?

Yes. If a transaction has been automatically allocated to a category that is not to your choosing, you can change it. View guide to see how.

Can I recategorise multiple transactions or move multiple transactions to a new category?

Yes, if you choose to re-categorise either a single transaction or a series of transactions the Spending Overview tool will identify all other matching transactions and present you with a list of these transactions. You will have the option to either categorise the individual transaction or categorise all transactions on the list.

Can I create my own categories?

Categories or subcategories are predefined in spending overview so you are not able to create any new ones. You can re-categorise any of your transactions to another predefined category from the list.

How do I switch off Spending Overview?

Within eBanking you can click ‘hide categories’ and within the apps you can switch off Spending Overview. You can choose to hide the Spending Overview for each of your eligible accounts individually within eBanking and for all accounts within the apps. Once you do this the Spending Overview will not show again until you click ‘Show categories’ within eBanking or you switch on again within the apps. View guide to see how.

Does Spending Overview show me real-time information?

Yes, as soon as a transaction appears on your account it can be seen within Spending Overview.

Do my changes to categories save?

Yes, any changes you make to the categorisation of your transactions will be remembered each time you log-on to view Spending Overview. Changes that a joint account holder has made will not be visible to you.

Does Danske Bank update the categories in Spending Overview?

From time to time we may make changes or update the categories/subcategories within Spending Overview. If we do this we will notify you in advance of the changes.

Can Danske Bank see my Spending Overview?

Some transactions may not be automatically categorised if we do not have enough information to identify how the transaction should be categorised. Where we have not categorised a transaction you will see a ‘?’ in Spending Overview and you will be able to categorise these transactions yourself. View guide to see how.

Does Danske Bank update the categories in Spending Overview?

No, you’re Spending Overview is personal to you. The Bank does not store the information nor is it able to access or view the information. Spending Overview data is updated real time each time you log-on.
